Schalk Burger has delivered a cheeky response to Duane Vermeulen’s comparison, and young Henry Pollock was firmly in the firing line.

Vermeulen likened England’s rising loose forward Henry Pollock to a young Burger and the former Springbok couldn’t resist firing back with his trademark humour.

Appearing alongside Jean de Villiers and Hanyani Shimange on The Verdict, Burger leaned straight into the comparison – and the hairline.

“Well, the hair is the same, we didn’t use the same hairdresser, surely not.”

Then came the punchline.

“If we are very similar, Henry Pollock, you’re going to look like this in a couple of years’ time, pal. You’d better find your wife soon,” he joked, removing his cap.

The panel agreed there are similarities in personality and playing style, with De Villiers noting the shared on-field energy and presence.

“No, very much the same personality. On the field, the same characteristics, social media and so on,” he said.

WOODWARD: Pollock becoming a liability

Burger, though, had the final word.

“I would like to think I was a little bit more understated, fellas.”

It’s not the first time the Bok great has had a playful dig at the England youngster. He previously joked that Pollock is “a TikTok dancer” who “plays a little bit of rugby on the weekend” – before conceding the impact he brings off the bench.
